What Cool New Web Search Ideas Should Google Launch In 2012?

Thursday, February 2nd, 2012

A blog that reached out to the tech-savvy and the geeks asked this question of what new ideas would Google require in 2012 .Some of the suggestions were extremely interesting like the following.

A chrome extension that acts like a clip to keep track of your browsing history when it jumps major topics. It is so commonplace to start searching for one thing and end up an hour later on a completely different and alienated topic that you don’t know how you landed in the first place. This extension would help keep track of such major digressions in your search and help you get back on track when needed. It might effectively replace bookmarks.

Since there is practically nothing that Google cannot provide, it may be inconvenient when you type in a sentence and the results for meaningless words come up. Google has to learn to incorporate a search that will search for a comprehensive sentence or a phrase that makes sense and not random words. It could be the end of having to use a ‘+’ sign after every word.

A time-specific search like ‘search by newest’ or ‘search by date’ will be well appreciated. When such features have already been fabricated into most websites, Google just keeps turning up older results that one does not require.

Frequent website recurrence can be adopted. If I am interested in a particular website for information I naturally seek it the next time. But Google can mix it up with a mushroom cloud of related websites carrying only useless material. So the ‘memory’ of Google to try and get me on the same site is needed.

Sometimes deep searches like text within a picture or video can be troublesome and time consuming. If Google can device an algorithm to compensate this little feature it would be extremely helpful. It will save lots of time and live streaming videos from the beginning won’t be necessary. One could just skip ahead to the part one wants.

Google standard search layout can be changed for better viewing, like in images for instance, the images that are best suited for the search can be larger so that I don’t have to hover over it to get a clearer view. Also instead of a vertical scroll maybe a horizontal scroll would be better for images.

Removing junk websites and those WebPages that no longer exist can be as important as adding new ones. The non-existent WebPages are no longer used and are clearly occupying space. Even though this is a trivial issue, it can eventually add to the ease of use.

Google offers innumerable services that include Google Docs, Maps, Earth, Mail, Images, Videos, Shopping, News, Calendar, Scholar, Groups, and Reader and so on. Normally this is a random list. If this list can be customizable so that one does not have to go through 3 steps to reach a particular application it would be helpful.
